2017 Confucius Institute Scholarship Application Procedure of Northeastern University
With aims to cultivate qualified Chinese language teachers and facilitate the understanding of Chinese culture, Confucius Institute Scholarship (CIS) has been launched by Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban for outstanding students, scholars and Chinese language teachers recommended by overseas Confucius Institutes (independently operated classrooms) and some HSK Test Centers (collectively referred to as “recommending institutions”) to study in Chinese universities (collectively referred to as “host institutions”).
Ⅰ. Eligibility, Coverage and Entry Requirements
Application is open to non-Chinese citizens registered as the student of Science and Technology Confucius Institute at Belarusian National Technical University, who are in good mental and physical conditions, without records of misconduct, aged between 16 to 35.
CIS is categorized into full scholarship and partial scholarship by its coverage. Further details can be found in Appendix I Confucius Institute Scholarship Coverage and Standards. Entry requirements are as follows:
Scholarship for One-Academic-Year Study Students
This category, starting from September 2017, provides a sponsorship for 11 months. International students who have records of studying in China after January 1st, 2017 are not eligible for the scholarship.
In-Service Chinese language teachers who come to China for advanced studies, and MTCSOL candidates majored in Chinese language or other related disciplines are accessible to curriculum of TCSOL and full scholarship.
Applicants are required to score at least 270 in HSK (Level 3) (Target of the course is to obtain a score of 180 in HSK Level 5), and have HSKK scores.
Scholarship for One-Semester Study Students
This category, starting from September 2017 or March 2018, provides a sponsorship for five months, and is exclusively open to applicants with no prior experience of studying in China.
In-Service Chinese language teachers who come to China for advanced studies, Confucius Institute (Classroom) registered students who are preparing for BTCSOL, and students majored in Chinese language are accessible to curriculum of TCSOL and full scholarship.
Applicants are required to attain a minimum score of 210 in HSK (Level 3) and have HSKK scores.
Students and scholars engaged in disciplines related to Chinese language media are accessible to advanced studies of Chinese Language and Literature. Applicants are required to pass HSK (Level 3) with a minimum score of 210, and have HSKK scores. Full or partial scholarship will be provided according to their nationality, order of application submission and level of Chinese Proficiency.
Ⅱ. Admission Procedure
For application, please log on to the CIS website (cis.chinese.cn) to search for recommending institutions and host institutions, upload application materials, track the progress of application, feedback of assessment and admission results.
Applicants can consult Hanban and host institutions about related policies. Eligible applicants being verified by host institutions will be on the admission list, and the final list of scholarship holders will be released by Hanban after assessment and review.
Scholarship holders need to confirm with host institutions to go through the procedures of studying in China, and print the CIS certificate online. They will be granted with the scholarship after completing the enrollment procedures within the stipulated time-period.
