NEU Vice President Xiong Xiaomei signed the MOU with her counterpart from the Goethe Institute in Beijing on Oct. 20, 2012. The two institutes will establish a Goethe Language Center at Northeastern University following the signing of MOU, further enhancing the exchanges and cooperation between NEU and Germany when the two countries celebrate the 40th anniversary this year of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Senior officials from Chinese Ministry of Education and German Ministry of Foreign Affairs also attended the signing ceremony.
