On June 2, a delegation of education officials and teachers from Laos, Indonesia, Thailand and Cambodia, participating in the Training Program on Teaching Competence Enhancement and Innovative Pedagogical Approaches for Southeast Asian Countries , visited Northeastern University. Delegations joined a Symposium and exchanged views on innovative teaching concepts, digital education transformation and cross-cultural educational cooperation.

The Symposium of the training program was presided over by Professor Bao Nisha, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Department and Dean of the School of International Education. Professor ALEXANDER LECHNER from the School of Resources and Civil Engineering delivered an academic report. He elaborated on the connotation and practical approaches of the student-centered teaching philosophy. He pointed out that innovative teaching modes are not merely replacing traditional lectures with videos, but fundamentally restructuring learning procedures and accountability: shifting knowledge delivery out of classrooms and bringing in-depth thinking and practical application into classroom teaching. High-quality video resources, flexible active learning spaces, rational application of artificial intelligence tools, and ongoing and transparent formative assessment jointly form the core foundation of this teaching model. During the Symposium, experts and delegation members conducted in-depth discussions on innovative teaching concepts, digital education transformation and cross-cultural educational collaboration.

Later, the delegation toured the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Achievement Experience Center of the Software College on the Hunnan Campus. Professor Gao Tianhan gave a detailed introduction to the development of the X-Reality Education and Research Center. Boasting core strengths in AI-driven content generation, LLM-based digital humans and multi-terminal collaboration, the center’s technologies have been widely applied in education, medical care, industry, cultural tourism and other fields. It is committed to building a world-class platform for XR education and scientific innovation. Delegation members experienced the innovative application of VR and other emerging teaching technologies in real teaching scenarios, and discussed ways to integrate modern teaching methods into daily teaching practices.
